Go indie. Cheaper, better quality, tailor made... an example would be...
www.angelgowns.com

If you are actually going to be in the DFW to buy your gown try Anonymously Yours, its a resale shop but they carry designer brands and probably some not so designers..lol

Also try these: Group USA, Forever & a Day Bridal (online store but if you have your measurements they can make it), Alfred Angelo (i applied for a credit line through the designer while at the Bridal Show and was approved for more than enough to get my dress..its my dream!) They have ordered it and will be ready to pick up in 12wks

Hope this helps....was searching for mine as well and I live in the DFW area

elegantgowns.com
houseofbrides.com
and my personal favorite... ebay.com!

theknot.com is junk because first of all, you can't actually buy a gown from there. and, a lot of the gowns they feature are already outdated, and they change the style numbers so you'll have a hard time trying to search elsewhere for the ones you like.

the first thing i did was go to david's bridal. i was surprised at how poor their selection is. then i started to hear a lot of bad things about them.

congratulations on your engagement, and best of luck to you in your planning! I'm currently planning my wedding too. You might want to read a book called "bridal bargains book". Lots of interesting info, and a list of sources too!
