Anti-oxidants offset the erosion on DNA strands, which are constantly renewing themselves daily to keep our cells alive and healthy. What makes us age is the DNA's inability to effectively renew itself. The erosion is caused by oxygen, which is also essential to keeping us alive. (go figure)
Supposedly 'purple' foods are great sources of anti-oxidants:
pomegranates, dark grapes, eggplant, red wine, dark chocolate too.
