Gee, I wonder what you used to say to all the "gooks" you passed by while you were in 'Nam, erudite?
I'd be willing to bet it had nothing to do with "Have a nice day" . . .

I am not sure which news segment you are referring to, but if CNN did show our troops behaving in such a juvenile and acrimonious manner it wouldn’t surprise me. First, it should be noted that any institution, no matter how reputable, will have its noble members, and those who are crude. The military is no different in this regard.
Furthermore, one must think about the military enterprise for what it is – it is an organization devoted to killing in order to accomplish objectives. What kind of people do you think would join such an institution, which already accomplishes its ends through morally questionable means? Certainly many of them will have less than virtuous character. So it is natural that you will see soldiers using profanity to insult Iraqis. This is to be expected. The most unrealistic expectation is to expect our soldiers, who are involved in the nasty business of state sanctioned murder, to all be choirboys.

Maybe if the Iraqis showed gratitude to the Americans for freeing them. The Americans would feel less contempt to the Iraqis

It probably is true. When you are getting shot at at and IED's start going off near your HMMWV then you seem to get a little angry. I know I did and cussed at a lot of Iraqi's as I passed them by.

Its out of stress and severe frustration with Iraqis not getting out of the way of American convoy's. from my personal experience you lose you cool to them ignoring you so you cuss, fire warning shots, and throw random objects at them (water bottles, rocks, and yes used MRE's).
Was over in Iraq July 04-05 and in Afghanistan in 03

You know I get so sick and tired of only the "bad news" getting reported. So what if they did? Don't you think they're under alot of stress over there? Geez, give me a break. Surf the web and find some really heart-warming photos about all the good we're doing there. And, believe me, there's alot.
