because when you tie up, the baby hair or whatever short hair is also tie up, so, the end of the hair will pock into ur scalp and you start feeling itchy..

I see three possibilities or combos of them.
First, you may have an allergy to the conditioner you use and when you pull your hair tight it is lying tightly against the scalp and may irritatte your scalp.
Next, It is easy to perspire and the moisture gets trapped under the hair because it is laying so tightly, where as if your hair were down then it would not lay the same way on your scalp.
Third, I recommend you use a neutrogena t gel shampoo once a month, even though you are dandruff free. It feels good on the scalp. Also, put your hair scrunchies through the laundry or hand wash them to get bacteria off of them.
If it an allergic reaction, it could be from your shampoo, but more likely it would be your conditioner or styling products you put all over your hair.
One last thing.... I have had clients use Paul Mitchell Baby Don't Cry shampoo to relieve scalp itchiness. I don't know why it works so good for adults, but I have a lot of clients that love the stuff.
Good Luck!

I had to take my turn in the chair of torture. Along with the wet comb came the Dippity Doo. By the time I was in 3rd grad I need glasses and I swear it was because my eyes were constantly slanted. The absolute worse thing she ever did was to give me a Toni home permanent. I washed my hair all weekend in an effort to get it relaxed. This was long before Afros came into style.

One thing you can do is massage your scale before you place your hair into a pony tail. don't pull the hair too tight. what are you using to hold the hair in a pony tail? I hope you are not using rubber bands.

you have it way too tight and its pulling the hair to the point it will pull it out, and that irritates your scalp.

its cause when you pull your hair back it pulls on it which helps to stimulate hair growth. and it itches so don't worry!
