If I get married in January but want to hold off the honeymoon until April, is that considered unacceptable? For many honeymoon locales there is a ridiculous price difference between peak (Dec - mid April) and off-peak (mid April - Nov) dates.

If it's not ok would you recommend moving the wedding to April, or just sucking it up and paying the extra couple thousand $$ for peak times, or going on a mini honeymoon after the wedding and the big one in April. Thanks!

Its completly fine to do that. A honeymoon doesnt have to be right after the wedding. It only makes things better if you pick a time that fits your money and schedule.

Do what feels best and what fits best.

We did the same thing and it was one of the best desicions we made. It gave us time to enjoy the guests that came in from out of town and unwind after a very busy week. Our wedding was in July, and wanted to go some place tropical, but not when it was going to be 100+ degrees. We waited until the following January, which gave us plenty of time to save extra money for our trip, plus, since it was off peak and we booked early, we saved a ton of money.

Sure go later, but take some time after your wedding just for the two of you. Even if it's two days off work just laying together in bed and going for pinics, have time to wind down from the wedding and enjoy your newlywed status. then rest and recover for the big honeymoon; gives you more time to plan as well.

I think it's fine to wait and it will actually be nice to get to go somewhere a few months later when things have settled down. My husband and I were so worn out from all the wedding stuff and reception and flying, etc. that I slept the whole first day we were at our resort. Maybe you 2 could get a hotel room close by for the weekend and just enjoy being man and wife.

We have decided to do the same, for many different reasons, including our late reception time. We're going to get married, then drive to a local B&B or Plantation for our honeymoon night, then have the rest of the honeymoon trip on a later date.

I know many couples who've waited, and see nothing wrong with it.

Best of luck and congrats!!!!!!!!

I don't think it really matters in this day and age. Gone are the old traditions of the girls father paying for the wedding etc. Its an idividual thing and it's entirely your choice. Far too much importance is put on the actual wedding and everyone forgets it's the marriage that needs the attention. So in the long run go with what you prefer.

That's perfectly fine. I am getting married in April and we aren't going on our honeymoon until mid summer ( July - Aug).

You go on the honeymoon whenever you feel like it. It is perfectly acceptable to wait if you need to. I don't blame you, I would wait for off peak dates to help save money.

Many couples wait to take a honeymoon. Just do your best to be sure you go on one, or take some time alone at least!
