Love can be a weapon. Suppose you are playing a video game and you have a charm that can make your opponent lay down his weapon and start listening to you. Might not be as exciting as swordplay, but people are much less likely to get hurt.
Love is like that. It's not always something you feel when someone is nice. It can be something you -do- in a scary situation, like a doctor putting medicine on an awful wound. Some evil people need to know you love that better spirit hiding somewhere in them. If Satan has no power to make you angry or hateful or greedy or cruel then you have the power and he doesn't. Love him because it is what you do for all things. You love them.

Umm... just because you love something doesn't mean you have to obey it. I may not be an expert on the Christian Bible, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't say anything about obeying your enemies.

Satan is the enemy, yes. But our prayers and love cannot effect him because we already know the end of the story, he never repents, he never apologizes, he goes straight into the lake of fire.
If I'm going to feel anything toward Satan, it's going to be pity. But mostly I don't really think about him.

the bible says we are to "love thyne enemy" because hates never produces anything positive. God obviously doesn't us want to love and obey him, but to keep a sense of hatred FAR from our hearts, yes, even when it comes to satan. hate comes from satan and if we were to hate satan, we would be doing exactly as satan wants us to.

Love enemies implies humans. It does not say to love principlalities of darkness, Satan, Lucifer, Beelzub, etc.
The Bible always refers to Satan by one of his many evil names.

What?! Satan is not human like us. We wrestle not against flesh and blood but against the spirits of darkness!

Recognize Satan for what he is ... an object of temptation. No need to hate, just be wary.
