we know that on our skin both bacteria and fungi are present and in our mouths and every cavity in our bodies, but we do not get an infection of either as long as they remain in balance because each keeps the other from becoming invasive. only when we kill one or the other off do we get infection as the balance is disturbed. For instance if you are on a broad spectrum antibiotic you might have a yeast infection because the yeast is no longer in check. I think it could be valuable research to see if introducing benign bacteria could stop a fungus or yeast infection, and could introducing benign yeast stop a bacterial infection on the skin.
