I HAVE 4 MARTIN LOGAN CLARITYS AND I-CINEMA CENTER FOR THE SPEAKERS.. THE MARTIN LOGANS ARE HYBRID SPEAKER THEY USE A THIN FILM TO MAKE THE HIGHS AND LOWS. THE SPEAKER ALSO HAVE 8 INCH SUB IN BOTTOM AND TWEETER UP TOP-- THAT'S WHAT MAKES IT A HYBRID. WE HAVE A DENON RECEIVER SONY 400DISC DVD/CD PLAYER AN INFINITY 500 WATT SW-12. SUB AND 61 INCH DLP JVC ( COUPLE YEARS OLD). THE MARTIN LOGANS USE FILM RATHER THEN CONE SPEAKER TO CREATE MID AND HIGHS -- WHICH IT CAN DO INFINITELY BECAUSE IT DOESN'T HAVE THE LIMITATIONS OF A CONE SPEAKER. THEY COST $1350 A PIECE FOR FLOOR MODELS. I USED FOR FRONT AND BACK-- YOU CAN GET SMALLER SPEAKERS FOR THE REAR. THE CENTER IS ALSO STATIC ELECTRIC HYBRID --PRICE $2000. THIS IS PRETTY HIGH END BUT IT IS PHENOMAL SYSTEM. PICK SPEAKERS THAT YOU LIKE THE SOUND OF-- NOT THE SALESMEN-- NOT WHAT I LIKE-- THERE IS ABSOLUTE NO WRONG SPEAKER CHOICE IF YOU LIKE THEM.. WHEN YOU TEST SPEAKERS MAKE SURE TO TRY WITH A RECEIVER THAT YOU MIGHT BUY SO YOU GET REAL IDEA WHAT YOUR SPEAKERS SOUND LIKE WITH THE REC. YOU WANT TO BUY. STAY WITH ONE REC TO DO YOU COMPARISON OF THE SPEAKERS --- BE CONSISTENT.

You really need to state a budget.
Example,
$ 8000.00 pair B&B 803D (ONLY for a PAIR!)
$6,500 for a Lexicon RV-8 receiver
Think of spending another $2-3,000.00 on cables!
We havn't even mentioned the display. Do you want a great sound with crappy picture? NOT! how about spending another $8,000.00 on a large pull down screen and $5,000.00 on a decent projector. Add another $1000.00 for more cabling!
And this is by no means the top of the line stuff, try triple-quintuple the cost! Really though, the skys' the limit. Hundred's of thousands of dollars can be spent.
I have
Onkyo TXSR804B
Technics SR-DX1040
B&W 603 x 2 front
Bose center channel
Polk RTi25 L/R surround
Polk RTi10 L/R/ Rear surround

I looked for weeks, comparing everything about Home Theatres, and I decided on a Panasonic 800 watt - 5/disc CD/DVD player 5:1 surround sound system. It has a tremendous sound, better in my view than sets much more expensive. I have good success with stands( adjustable) for the two front, and two rear speakers. The center speaker is on top of TV, sub woofer, to the left on a piece of pile carpet for good tone.

The brand will defend on you but i recommend Yamaha and Onkyo. I have in my home a Yamaha 6.1 channel with a center speaker and 300watts subwoofer and i'm satisfied with the output.
