My 5 year old has had strep for over two months now and has been cultured almost every other week. He has been on one type of antibiotic twice as well as 3 other types of antibiotics each for one round. He is getting a fever again and I am at my wits end. They say they are going to take out his tonsils and adnoids but not until the end of February. My two month old and I don't seem to have gotten it from him, but we are all having excessive tiredness. Is this really strep or could it be something else? Any one been through something similar?

Was he actually diagnosed with strep by the doctor?
If yes, keep him on the antibiotics, if necessary, get a refill from the doctor but if it persists, get him re-diagnosed (preferably by a second doctor). Good luck.

He needs to stay on constant antibiotics until he can have his tonsils out. Be sure you are taking him to a good ENT
