Today my mom found out someone has been using my moms social security number. When the lady went to get her manager I looked over at the computer and saw the persons name and her "alleged" birthdate which happens to be her exact date but a different year. I didnt see the adress because the lady was coming back. I know we have to call the police but is there anything else we should do?

Contact all three credit bureaus, all banks, credit card companies, department store cards and let them know right away.

Your mom needs to pull a full credit record and go through it very carefully and dispute the charges that she believes are not hers.

She probably will need to continue to pull a full credit report every six months for a couple of years to monitor what is on there.

After the police take your statements, make sure to get a case number and contact name and phone number. When they are done writing the report, get copies of it. You need to essentially babysit this and make sure you contact the police every few days to see what's going on.

When it goes to the DA, contact them as well.

First, locate out the call of the credit card company, call them and ask them in the event that they have a replica of the utility. and on the same time have it cancelled and have them record it to the fraud branch. Do you think of probable your seventy 8 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous mom could have forgotten? you say it incredibly is on "her account". once you probably did the as quickly as a year credit verify, those are the companies you may call to boot. Transunion as an occasion.

let all three credit reporting companies know. all credit cards should be stopped, you should call the bank, the place she has her credit cards. any place she does business and knows her credit, bank acct's. The police...The sheriffs dept (if they do that kind of thing there...) the FBI. (if they do that kind of thing there)
