When i wake up in the mornings my face is very dry I would like to wear base and powders ( which i haven't wore since 8th grade due to horribly dry skin) I have exfoliators and things and expensive lotions but when i put on make up ( blush, powder,) there is like redish bumps; my make up seems to not spread evenly like it's more red like on a dry spot its kinda hard to explain but maybe someone will know what im talking about. I do not get acne or blackheads or break outs i just have DRY skin that wont go away on my face. Im 17 should i be having these problems hah. An easier way to try to explain it is when i rub my face it't soft except in like a few places and that would be the dry places where my makeup seems to build up on.
Help please!

Do not wash your face with soap or any other harsh cleaning agents. Make sure you look for something that is intended for sensitive skin and will nourish it as well. Follow it with a face moisturizer. I get what you're saying about your make up "building up" in the dry areas, it isn't going to spread as well on the dry skin and it may soak up more of the make up because it is dry. I don't wear face makeup, just eye makeup and it works fine for me. If you would prefer to wear face makeup, then make sure to take care of your face first so that all the dry areas are treated and made soft again. Look for products that are intense moisture but since you get red bumps, try to stay away from anything that contains perfume. Put lotion on at night before bed ( a lot of it) and exfoliate in the morning. Hope this helps!

Mint facial sauna's, followed by a nice honey mask at home. After this make sure to apply vit. E oil all over ur face before bedtime. Repeat everyday for a week......u should see results. Don't ever wash ur face with reg. soap!! It's real drying, instead use some kind of cold cream and rinse.
p.s. refrain from using foundation and facial powder until ur face heals with some moisture for a week.
and make sure your using oil based foundation and powder, you may want to invest in the highest quality make up at a dermatologist office [those products do NOT use "talc" which is even in all the "top" brands of cosmetics at major dept. stores like Macy's] get the cosmetics at a dermatologist office, that's where I get mine, and I've always had dry skin myself. Also I do all of the above that I suggested u try and this little routine has saved my skin making it soooooo much more healthy!! it's no longer dry at all....winter can be so harsh for a complexion. But u can save it! :-D

First, Make sure that you are using a gentle facial cleanser that is for dry skin. Do not use regular soap, body soap, etc. Try to find a cleansing cream or lotion, rather than a foaming type of cleanser. Cleansers do not need to lather up to clean well.

Second, Exfoliate 2-3 types per week with a gentle exfoliant. Once again look for something for dry skin.

Third, If you use a toner, do not use one that contains alcohol. Witch Hazel is a great, inexpensive toner that will not dry out your skin.

Fourth, Try Shea Butter Cream. Is has many documented healing properties, with helping to strengthen Nails & Cuticles to helping heal scars, burns and blemishes, to minimizing wrinkles, just to name a few. Shea Butter melts upon skin contact to revitalize, soften and maintain moisture without leaving any greasy residue
Shea Butter is solid and comes from the natural fat obtained from the karite tree grown in West and Central Africa. Shea butter is an emollient. It is extremely therapeutic, helping to heal cracked, aged and damaged skin. Its chemical constituents help to heal bruising and soreness. Shea butter penetrates the skin and leaves it feeling soft and smooth. It has vitamin A, E and is highly compatible with skin.

Use Shea Butter cream rather than lotion. It is more concentrated. A good quality Shea Butter cream is a bit expensive. The one I use costs about $36.00 for 6 oz.(this includes shipping and handling), but it goes a long way. It keeps my face moisturized all day long. I apply it in the morning before I put on my makeup and at night after I cleanse my face.

Go to a dermotologist. They're really not that expensive and they are worth it!
Other than that I can tell you to make sure to use a really good lotion on your face before you put on the makeup. Don't use powders at all. Use cream blush. Use liquid foundation for dry skin. Anything made for old ladys would work good. If you need to use powder during the day, use a clear powder like joe blasco's clear to take away shine. It won't build up.

You should see a skin doctor, you may have exzema. But in the mean time...
Foaming gel cleansers dry out skin, unless you have really oily skin, you shouldnt use this type. You should try cleansers that are milky or creamy. And yes you need a moisturizer. Dont use a facial scrub. Try Cetaphil products if you purchase products in the drugstore. Cetaphil is a mild cleanser and its mositurizers are great and do the job. Only wash your face at night w/ cool water and mositurize and just splash cold water in the morning and moisturize.
Washing your face too much can dry out your skin and hot water also dries out your skin.

I hope this helped:)

Our skin is a semi-permeable membrane, which allows water to go out from the body or to come in the body. While swimming in the salt water, the salt concentration inside your body is lower than that on the outside. This causes our body to eject some water. This increases the moisture in the skin and remains until it is evaporated.

Your skin uses two ingredients for oiling and softening it. They are water and oil that makes your skin more permeable in different ways. The word “moisture” refers to various combinations of these two types of skin components. When you swim vigorously below any water for a long time, it makes your skin dry. Salt water scrubs away the skin oil.

It's always best to consult a dermatologist when you have concerns about your skin. They have the experience and training to determine whether your problem is just dry skin which needs moisturizer or something else altogether. Patches of dry skin could be a symptom of something else which needs some other kind of treatment.

It sounds like you need to see a doctor. Mere creams are not going to solve your problem, you need to find out what is going on. The dry skin might just be the most obvious symptom.

This may not be a high tech answer but Aveeno lotion works. Give it a couple of days and see if a change occurs. Also are you drinking your daily 6-8 cups of water?

I used to suffer from really chapped lips - constantly and nothing worked to moisten them. A friend of mine turned me to paw-paw ointment. It's completely natural (all pawpaw) and nourishes dry skin extremely well. I no longer have chapped lips and my baby no longer has a raw bottom. It's worth a try and like I said, it's all natural so it won't do you any harm.
