No way, keep it. Provided that you are 18, and of legal age of consent. I am almost 30 and my mom still freaks out.

You're obviously old enough to make your own decisions since you got a tattoo. I was placed in the same position but after a while, your mom will understand. They threatened to kick me out of the house and the whole family would have nothing to do with me... it was all just a threat... nothing actually happened. If you love your tattoo, then it should be your decision only and not your parents'. Good luck with this and I hope you choose the best decision for YOU. :)

Whooo this is a tough one honey.
The way I see it is you really need to sit down and talk to your mother about it. Obviously your mom is very strongly against tattoos, so i guess it depends on what is more important to you. Removing a tattoo is both painful and can scar, so that would be a big step.
You really need to discuss this further with her. Tell her why you wanted the tattoo and explain to her how much it hurt you when she refused to speak to you about it. Ask her if she would agree to let you keep it for a while and see if it grows on her, and if she still can't accept it, then you'll think about removing it.
Once again, it depends on how much you want this tattoo.

I haven't gotten one removed, but I assume it is going to hurt. The ink is under your skin, there is going to be no easy way to get it out. I think I heard somewhere that getting one removed hurts eve more then getting the actual tattoo.

First of all;
1. your age?
2. Do you live at home?
3. What is the tattoo of?
If your under 18 she is right! and has you by the baseballs, and thats especially true if you still live at home.
if your over 18 and on your own, NO WAY! deal with it
mom and be thankful it's not a tear drop on my face!

When I got my first 3 tattoos my mom cried & cried, but then when I got my 4th - 13th she couldn't wait to see them... If your happy with your tattoo then keep it it's your body & your mom will get over it one day just like my mom did just give her some time...

if you are of legal age to get a tattoo then your mom needs to respect your descition. i would tell her your sorry that it hurt her feelings, but it seems silly to not want to talk to you because you got a tattoo.
either way i wouldn't get it removed. it was your decition to put it there in the first place you should be the one who chooses to take it off.

How much did your tattoo cost?
(Well tell your mom that it costs 10 times as much to have it removed as it did to get it done.)
Did it hurt getting tattooed?
(Laser treatment hurts like hell and can leave scars which will probably look far worse than your tattoo)
She will hopefully get over it.

Is your mom truly that shallow to let a little ink under the skin come between you? Come on! I have a few piercings and my mom was startled at first but has never let that come between us. I say to keep the tat if you really wanted it that bad, however if your mom is serious on you removing it, a real conversation needs to be had to decipher why it is that troubling to her.

understand why she is angry, and tell her. Then tell her that she needs to understand why you did it. She will come around, I think she is worried you will change your mind and have a regret. The thing you need to convey to her is that if you do, it is something that you will have to live with, not her, now it is time for you to start making your own decisions. Its not unhealthy, it doesn't hurt anyone, and it shouldn't break up the family.
