is it true, that teachers who are touchy with their students and put their hands on their students shoulders, etc...are the ones who dont get enough affection from their wives, children etc...
If your teacher does this all the time to almost everyone of their students, and puts his hand on your shoulder, gives you mini hugs etc. and you can just tell hes not a pervert. Why would a teacher be so starved of affection that he does this. I also have a teacher like this.

The teacher is not starved. The teacher is full. With wonderful caring for you, the student. I think is nice for a teacher to touch your shoulder or give you mini hugs. But, I do understand that there are people who are uncomfortable with affectionate people. Gosh, I guess it's better than a teacher who would rap your fingers with a ruler if you didn't stay at attention---though, I don't think that happens nowadays.

It's not necessarily that they are starved of affection, but that they express their feelings for their students in physical ways. People have different ways of demonstrating the love and care that they feel for others, and touch is one of those ways. So these folks might also get lots of physical affection at home, because it's a normal way for them to interact with people. My guess is that they really like you and are just expressing that.

As for being starved of affection, I personally feel that I don't get near as much affection as I would like from others. But I also recognize that other people don't interact in physical ways all the time. So I am less ilkely to reach out and touch others unless I know that they are already comfortable with that kind of interaction. I hardly ever touch my students, for example, and would never give a student a hug unless he/she initiated it.

Affection is connection. Be grateful there are people like this who have learned to step out of their shells among the multitude.

People do this without realizing it a lot of times. If you don't like it say something in private.
