i knew they weren't supporsedto but they said they accidently hit it with their speed boat and brought it home to butcher. it is ver, vvery delicious. but i feel guilty despite how tender and sweet the steaks were with pineapple and almond rice on the side. delicious manatee. people in florida used to eat them all the time. Gator tail is also a big item in Fla. They eat everything in Fla.

They're mighty tasty as long as the game warden isn't around I se no problem as it would have just gone to waste.

I don't know if your question is for real or not, but do you know what the law says about it? Is it illegal to eat it, even if it was accidentally killed? I know that Florida tries to keep tabs on them and want you to report it if you see a dead or injured animal, but do they do anything special with the carcus?
It's true that people used to eat them all the time. In fact, they were a staple for some. Here's a link to a very interesting, though disturbing article regarding a 'secret' manatee diner. Reminds me of the movie "The Freshman" with the 'endangered species club/restaurant'.

NO! They are an endangered species and thus, you guys broke the law, even if it was accidently killed.
I was in Florida over Christmas and went snorkeling with manatees. They are sweet, gentle creatures who swim right up to people and want to be petted, like a big puppy. I'am saddened to hear of what you did. :(

Well if it was already dead, why not??? I think that if you like manatee steaks,you should have eaten it.
It would be worst if it would be left to rot!!!
People kill the animals to eat, I understand that was not the intention in this case but, it was already dead!!!

What the heck? Did they stick around to watch it die? They should've called FDW ...if it died right away they were probably speeding in a sanctuary. Shame on them. Something tells me they've done it before.
