I think you have your question backwards. I have been there and witnessed first hand Russians who have been made slaves in Chechnya years prior to the Russian military finding them and releasing them. Chechnya wants independence from Russia, but what are their natural resources? How will they support their country? There is not even major roads running in and out of Chechnya for commerce.

Yes, but it wont be done for fear of war with Russia. The best way I see to handle the current troubles would be to grant them provisonal independance and then send in international peacekeepers. That gives the Chechens what they need but the cost is a sizeable downgrade of relations with Russia and possibly war with them.

There is also the problem of Chechen rebels attacking Russian civilians. That would have to stop as well, and the peacekeepers would likely have to help in that as well. It's really hard to find a 'good guy' in the Russian/Chechen conflct.

The Chechen Rebels should adopt some new ways if they are fighting for their "Freedom" from the Russians. Bombing schools and killing children, causing civilian casualties will harden the Russians and will be a good reason for more bloodshed.

Tell the Chechen rebels not to massacre Russian children.

This would be real simple for the Chechen's. Simply stop committing terror attacks in Russia.

Remember that they were granted independence and had it until they started placing bombs in Moscow subways.

I think you've got these two groups reversed. It's the Chechnians that are bombing the Russian schools, not vice versa.

CHECHENS NEED TO BE "RE-EDUCATED" AND TAUGHT THAT OPPOSING RUSSIA WILL NOT DO ANY GOOD.
