this really depends on your hair type. sometimes if people have really coarse or tightly curled hair and they get a relaxer, this alters the molecular structure of the hair alot, thus making it very weak. as this person's new growth comes in, it will be very tightly curled and will break off if a relaxer is not put on soon. This person will probably need to do it every 6-8 weeks. where as there are some people who only need mild relaxation and their new growth is more wavy then tightly curled, this person has a relaxer and the molecular structure of the hair does not have to change as much because the person's hair is already wavy-straight. this individual's new growth can do well with good conditioning and blowdrying and they can stretch their look to make it look as though they do nto need a relaxer as badly. This person can go to every 3-4 months. also for the people who do every 6-8 weeks, you run a greater risk of overlapping chemicals because not all parts of the head grow at the same rate. What happens if you are on a schedule to get it every 6 weeks, evvery 6 weeks, and the back part of your head needs it every 6 weeks and the top and sides only need relaxing every 10 weeks. well you are putting the relaxer on the sides sooner than necessary and some women burnout their hairline like this. Plus leaving it on too long for parts of the head that have more delicate baby hair. Me personally, I do every 10 weeks. longer if I get a sew in.

i relax mine every 6 weeks because if i don't then the weaker already relaxed hair breaks off when i comb it. but then again relaxing my hair mkes it weak also so its a continuous downward spiral. it really depends on how you wear it. if it's in braids or some other low maintenence style most of the time, then it doesnt need to be relaxed as often, but if u wear it down or change styles ofte, then it would be best to relax it more frequently

It really just depends on how fast your hair grows. I relax mine every 3 to 4 months but I also keep mine short. If your hair is long than I think you can wait a little longer :)
