how long does the video in a digital camera lasts?

Well, last time I had a video camera and it stopped all the time at 30 sec of recording time and I wonder whether all cameras are like this or not, because I went to best buy and they couldn't tell me

Well, it depends if theres is a video time maxium, otherwise you would just be limited by how big your memory card/stick is and battery life.

some cameras are capped at a certain time limit.

Most cameras now will take a video until your battery dies or all your space is used up on the memory card.
