It's not a new phenomena. It's been around for eons. People of all ages, young and old seek out sexual attention for many reasons. 1-lack of affection at home, 2-desensitization by the media, 3-have issues from being sexual assaulted or molested, 4-equate being loved with having sex, etc, etc.
I was 19 going on 20 before I had my first sexual encounter. We married 4 years later, had two wonderful children and divorced 17 years later. We have remained friends and celebrate our divorce every year.

I am glad to hear of all of the virgins answering this question! I was 16. Too young and it was not even that great..... People say they lose it at such an early age because they think that's what is cool. Little do they know, most of their friends are lying about it! -keep your possession close to you for a few more years.....

I think its society and friends the old everyone is doing it and if you dont have parents that teach you that you have a mind of your own it can be tough to think for yourself. I think its great that you are 20 and still a virgin i lost mine at 14 and had a baby shortly after that i now am 29 married with 6 kids and couldent be happier. I guess it just depends on the person I got lucky with my husband

Great to know and good on you. I'm 22 and in no way am i intending to give it up yet... for heavens sake i value myself enough not to let any tom dick or harry take that away from me. Unless of course for that special someone whom I intend to share my life with..Unfortunately for many young people, the idea of losing their virginity is rather cool or more so acceptable since 'everyone' is doing it. But the real truth of it is that there are loads of people out there who still are holding onto that sound thought. Kudos on you!

I think just about anyone who answers this question "still has posession of their life force".... I mean, if they didn't they would be dead. Are you expressing your pride that you haven't kicked the bucket yet or do you consider your virginity your life force?
In response to the main question, I'm 19 and still a virgin, though I plan to have sex with my boyfriend within the next year or two.

20, almost 21... and I'm marrying him in a couple months. Our culture certainly promotes sexuality at younger ages now-just listen to the difference in music lyrics over time, for one quick example. But part of it I think is also our individualistic culture-we do what we want & don't necessarily see the need to follow certain protocol. I think less people are getting married-I remember reading somewhere that over half of cohabitating couples aren't married now.

I was 18, almost 19 when I lost mine. It was on the 2nd of July. He was 23 and a virgin. We married, have a son, and 22 years later, we're still together. :-) So, in this case, I don't regret losing my virginity at all! lol

I'm 17 and still a virgin. It's hard for my boyfriend sometimes, but he respects me. I don't see the point in giving a guy something he'll take for granted. Plus.... most of the guys out there are idiots && not worth the breath in their lungs, at this age.

Well, people who loses there virginity at a young age choose to lose it at the age. That is what I think. I lost mine at age 23 years old (on my 23rd. birthday.)
