I've recently lost two friends because they say i have "split personalities" and am rude, controlling and commanding at times, but completely cool the next.
I always feel like everyone's trying to be against me, and like I can never really have a true friend.
I lie, almost constantly and I honestly cannot help it.
I can be completely happy for a couple days and then the next three I'm just completely gloomy and sad and suicidal.
I think that's why I lose all of my friends?
or at least why i'm not able to keep many?
My father was hospitalized in Jr. High for depression problems and I think I might have been passed them?
Am i just an over reacting teen?
or am I like chronically depressed?
I'm just super confused and I really don't know what to do.
I"m currently not covered under insurance because it doesn't kick in for 6 months.
can i still see a Dr. about this?
What about meds?
please just help. as best you can.

the financial thing is no problem.
any suggestions are welcome.
I have always been covered under my mother's insurance(better plan) until recently she got a better job offer and took it..so now we have to wait to be covered again.
I heard both the rates for going to a Dr. without insurance are reidiculous, and prices for anti-depressants but i wasn't sure.
Yes I live in the states...Arizona.
I hate it.
No friends..and I'm not exagerating.
but thanks to everyone who's answered so far.
some of your words have been amazingly inspirational.
I really think that I just need an ear and someone who doesn't judge me that will encourage me.
...now money...no problem
someone to listen to me..now that's a problem.

"I lie, almost constantly and I honestly cannot help it." - sorry, that one is just great. ^_^ LOL
Um, well i've been really super depressed these past two years because i don't have any friends (0) and i got really down on myself. So here's my advise:
1. Read (or find) a Bible, I learned a lot, and it changed my life.
2. Talk to a doctor/friend about your problems.
3. Sucide would suck, don't kill yourself. Even though you may not think there are nice people in the world, they are out there somewhere! You'll get better once your out of your teen years, seriously.

It's almost as if I am giving myself advice, you are exactly as I used to be. I don't think depression is genetic, I think it is like loss: you can not read it or pass it on, you can only feel it. Listen, it takes a lot of courage to be happy, and nobody has the right to take a life, even if it is their own. I think being out spoken is a good thing, but not everybody needs to hear what you have to say, because in reality the conversation won't matter in the next couple of minutes. Maybe befor seeing a doctor, you could try to look inwardly and find out who you truly are. Get to know yourself, then you'll have complete control over yourself, maybe even your emotions. Don't tell anybody (but I tried to kill myself twice, and I'm so happy I'm alive) I really appreciate what I have and have learned to be content. I think people get depressed sometimes because they are not satisfied but if they were to walk the shoes of someone who has less than them, I'm sure they would feel differently. You should read this: http://hobbes.ncsa.uiuc.edu/desiderata.html
It's called "Desiderata" It's really inspirational (well I think so anyways ^-^)
P.S. for the most part, you're not an over reacting teen, you're just a little confused right now.

That does sound like more than just the average teenage moodiness. That's rough, huh? It could be depression. If you're in Canada, you can still see a doctor, but you will have to pay for all of whatever medication you might be prescribed. If you're in the States, I think you pay for the doctor visit too. Some other symptoms of depression are being really tired, sleeping more or less than usual, eating more or less than usual, gaining or losing weight, and of course thoughts of harming yourself. If you are thinking about hurting yourself, go to the ER right now, that's serious.
If you think it might help, you could try a teen self-help book. I'm thinking something like Life Strategies for Teens. It's a pretty good read, and might help you learn some different ways to act that could help you get along better. Hang in there.

Maybe you are an over dramatic teen and maybe your not. Maybe your school counselor will be able to direct you. There are a lot of different mental illnesses out there and if you speak to five different Doctors you might get five different answers. Ultimately you probably don't want to be all pill-ed up for the rest of your life. I do know that being a teenager is not easy and maybe it is just harder for you. Try and just concentrate in school get good grades. Maybe you need to stop worrying about having friends for a while. Sorry to see that you feel this way, but I am sure that in time you will look back and understand everything. Good luck.

Over the last five years I had begun to have increasingly withdraw into a downward spiral of depression..
But now with the method I can fully focus my energy and thoughts into a decisive line on how to make my life better constantly. And it works like magic! I'm beginning to attract people to me once again and things have just been looking up since then.

Yes you can get help. There are Behavior Health centers that adjust your bill to your income. but that shouldn't matter. You need help now and yes is sometimes is transmitted through our parents or there parents, it doesn't matter You need to get this under control before you hurt yourself. A lot of people lie, but when they do they normally get caught, and friendship do suffer or end because of the trust issues. First you have to learn what is bothering you and why you lie, but you need the help of a Psychologist. When your parents lie it teaches you it's OK to lie, and it can cause you to make bad decisions. Being rude and demanding gets you no where or any friends. GET HELP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE SO YOU CAN HAVE A GOOD LIFE. AND GOOD LUCK. THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK THIS MAY HELP YOU SOME.

Youre body and brain are still developing so I would be real cautious as to using medications, it really isnt safe for you at your age. Sometimes the way you feel can be because of a vitamin defiency, talk to your parents about getting on some good vitamins daily and some mineral supplements if financially possible. Cut back on caffeine and drink more water. Try and eat fresh healthy foods and maybe start jogging in the morning or afternoon. Listen to some good music like Kiss and try to learn to accept yourself for your imperfections. Alot of the meds doctors perscribe are still in testing phases and no one really knows the long term affects. So my advice would be to try to help your body the natural way . Alright?? And if you need spiritual help then try praying to Jesus Christ.

you can see about a clinic in your area they usually rate on a pay scale by how much you can afford if you are feeling depressed enough to kill yourself or someone else you absolutely have to call someone...although most suicidal people don't talk about it they just do it...trust me I know I have survived 3attempts I'm bipolar...inherited both sides of my family. don't try to self medicate that will cause you more problems . FYI-- sometimes people who say they are your friends sometimes have a reason other then just wanting to be with you this happens to everyone at least a few times not everyone you meet will become your friend so if that's the main reason you are upset please cry let it all out and go back to school and kill them with kindness ....basically pretend it doesn't bother you at all
Be In Love with Yourself...when you love you everyone else who means anything will love you too

See a school councilor, that's why they are there. If you don't feel good inside its not a bad idea to ask for help. My teenage years were the hardest, your changing a lot right now, and no one sits you down to tell you whats happening and why you feel like you do. Its very brave of you to ask for help, and insurance or not, there is someone you can always talk to. Good luck, you'll get through it, If I can, anyone can:)

Hmm, I don't know about your financial situation but it sounds like you should see a doctor. Check with your local health dept or call the Human Services in your area to see if you can qualify for medical help if you don't have enough income to pay out of pocket. Good luck!
