Did they know lightning was electricity from clouds?(or did they think it was God)

It was Benjamin Franklin who proved that lightening was electricity and not the result of voodoo, Gods, or other mumbo-jumbo.

The Biblical folks were a couple thousand years shy of that. They were pre-Copernican, pre-Newtonian, and pre-Darwinian illiterate goat herders who actually had to appeal to their God for a ruling on the practice of having sex with sheep. They managed to get lost in an area the size of West Virginia for 40 years, while suffering 80% mortality (compare that with Lewis and Clark who, in less than 3 years traveled 7,000 miles with just one loss of life).

Their scientific knowledge was such that when it came time to come up with a creation myth, all they could think of was to make man out of dirt and woman out of man’s rib (the extent of their knowledge of human anatomy and veterinary science was that both sheep and men [at least] have ribs – apparently they did not spend as much time examining women’s chests – go figure).

So, we are to take from that God’s hatred of science. If that is the case, why do Christians subject themselves to the practitioners of modern medicine which is based on the Satanic theory of biological evolution? That must really tick-off God.

You are aware that ‘Babel’ is remarkably close to ‘bab-ilu’, the original Akkadian word meaning something like ‘Gate of God’. The confusion in translation no doubt stems from the fact that the people doing the translating were bigoted morons – one of Christianity’s most enduring characteristics.

The honest answer to this question is it depends.

If you take a SNAP SHOT of a specific point in time in Biblical History then you can ask what did the people of the Bible understand about science in 1200 B.C. The Biblical people had about just as much scientific knowledge as the other socities around them during that specific time. Once in awhile, a particular society would stick out because of a great inventor, discoverer, or scientist. Like a certain group of people learned how to shape IRON into weapons before the Hebrews.

As Science progessed, and time progessed simulatenously so did the Hebrew people.

The whole thing about lightning....well if you take a snap shot in the time of Job, the days of the patriachs, its clear by the reading that they viewed God as placing each lightning bolt.

"no real disagreement can exist between the theologian and the scientist provided each keeps within his own limits. . . . If nevertheless there is a disagreement . . . it should be remembered that the sacred writers, or more truly ‘the Spirit of God who spoke through them, did not wish to teach men such truths (as the inner structure of visible objects) which do not help anyone to salvation’; and that, for this reason, rather than trying to provide a scientific exposition of nature, they sometimes describe and treat these matters either in a somewhat figurative language or as the common manner of speech those times required, and indeed still requires nowadays in everyday life, even amongst most learned people" (Leo XIII, Providentissimus Deus 18).

They thought lightning was God, and they were not very intelligent at all. This is the BIBLE people we are talking about though. (men who wrote the bible)

Now the Myans, they were totally different! There were many ancient cultures who were very intelligent, and whom I believe had either help from aliens, or thier superior knowlege has been lost to time.

Carvings of brain surgery have been found on cave walls thousands of years old. There were intelligent civilizations, such as Atlantis, but you won't find them in the bible!!

the people of babel were known to have started scientific knowledge. and we all know what happened to babalyon?

Genesis 11:8,9
8 So the LORD scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. 9 That is why it was called Babel [c] —because there the LORD confused the language of the whole world. From there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole earth.

God bless you I hope this helps you to understand the truth.

thrilling that none of what you suggested incredibly defies the authentic definition of the understanding concept. in the tip it remains an concept, an imagined concept of what could be, based on the certainty that they have got. right it fairly is the element- If technology had each and all of the solutions, thoroughly understood each little thing there substitute into to comprehend with regard to the universe (even merely because it incredibly is immediately) and got here up with an concept that they had to handle as regulation, which could be one element- yet regardless of all that all of us be conscious of and comprehend, we have not even scratched the floor- there are new discoveries on a daily basis and previous suggestions and "understandings" are continuously being shown fake or replaced by greater moderen tips- even the thought of evolution itself has replaced beyond widely used time. there are maximum of undemanding issues in trouble-free on a daily basis existence that scientists have not been able to make certain. regardless of what your chosen definition is, an concept in keeping with assumption and constrained awareness isn't something greater advantageous than an concept. it incredibly is merely undemanding trouble-free sense.

It depends. The Bible spans 6000 years of history. The Greeks had calculated the circumference of the earth hundreds of years before the Bible was complete.
