You can test a strip if your hair is dark brown NATURALLY. If it is dark brown because you dyed it, then you will need to use a stripper, or lightener. Stripper is best before trying a lightener. But BE VERY CAREFUL as these are often extrememly damageing and many can react differently to all types of hair and haircolors........ See a Pro if you need to chemically lighten. If your hair is naturally brown, then go for it, but listen to the box "Test" a strip FIRST... It could save you a TON of heatrtache if you are wrong.
You are talking to a woman of 26 who has dyed her hair JET balck since the age of 14.... If you need to lighten colored hair, SEE A PRO!!! I had to learn the hard way.

for this drastic of a change you definitely need to go to a salon. lightening dark hair can turn orange. use a cheap product (anything from the grocery store) and you could really damage your hair. i use to experiment like that and then would end up paying a ton to have it proffessionally fixed. once, while going from red back to blond my hair "melted". i had to cut my waist length hair to my shoulders. if you really want to try- try a strand test by using a chunk of hair under your head. after a while wipe off a little and see if you like the color. if not leave it on a little longer and check again. this way you won't mess up the rest of your hair if you don't like it.

You cannot dye dark brown hair to strawberry blond without bleaching it first. Basically, you need to lift off the dark brown first and then get it blond. I recommend visit to a salon for this one.

If you can't afford the salon. use tin foil. seperate the hair take the tin foil put it under a thin parted piece of hair apply dye. put foilf at the root brush dye on the hair to the tip , fold foil over top hair that is brushed with dye, leave in as recommended on box remove foil and you should get desired result.

Its hard to say. You should do a strand test, as cheesy as it sounds. I think you might not like the results, a strand test will give you an idea. If you have the extra money, get it done professionally. Such a big change should be done by a pro. Good luck.

First of all, read the time allotment as shown on the dye package, then leave it in for the maximum time suggested.

You need to use a stronger peroxide, with less lifting time. You may end up too brassy or with an orange color. Be careful... Maybe pay to have a hairdresser do it first, then you can use drugstore product to 'keep it up'.

You should bleach your hair first to a mid-light blond, then apply the dye. make sure you condition it well after.
p.s. Do not condition hair in between washes.
