I have dark brown hair, bordering on black. I got it dyed red, well, highlighted really. My bangs are red, and it's sort of 'blocked' red all around the back. I have short short hair with long bangs pretty much. I'm using ArtTec shampoo, but should I leave it in while in the shower instead of immediately rinsing? I want to keep my hair RED.

Use the John Frieda line of hair products called "Color Last". I use it in "Radiant Red". They make a shampoo called "Color Keep" that is designed to be anti-fade and preserve the red color of treated or highlighted hair.

There are other products in this line. Call 1-800-521-3189, M-F from 9-5 eastern time if you have any questions about it. It works great for daily maintenance. I never let shampoo sit in my hair, though. Not a good idea and serves no purpose, really. They also make a conditioner, hairspray, and daily color sealer in the Radiant Red shade.

The other thing you can do is get a salon color glaze to pump up the original red every month or 6 weeks.

Your natural hair color is so dark that the Frieda products won't affect that color & only maintain the red of the dyed parts.

Good luck!!

Redken Shades Eq makes/made color shampoos in reds. You wash your hair with it a few times a week and leave it in a few minutes before rinsing and it will keep your hair as red as new!

It's hard to keep red from fading. Use the shampoos that prevent fading and dye your roots every 3 - 4 weeks.

The most importatnt thing is to only wash it every other day.

I would suggest the shampoo's designed for red hair to stay red, and also don't wash your hair everyday..washing your hair everyday not only fades out your color, but dries your hair from natural oils which can result in splitends, frizzieness and such.

just use a shampoo that protects yur color or use a coloring system [after it comes out] that lasts a long time or get it permanantly dyed

My suggestion is to use Johnson's baby shampoo...it is ultra mild and--like most HARSH shampoos...won't strip your color...and the other best red hair color is FERIA...LOREAl...any red shade...Loreal is the creator of Redken...so Feria is just as good. (I know this because my wife colored her hair red)

dye it with henna, it's a plant, in the beginnning more often
it does not destroy your hair, but it will make it beautiful

the more often that you dye it, the more the pigment will stay there
i even have my shampoo with henna
