I had very dry skin last winter and ended up seeing a dermatologist. I was prescribed Locoid Lipocream. I applied as directed but was not to use it no longer than two weeks at a time. My dermatologist also said I could use Hydrocortisone 1% instead...but again follow directions on the product and don't use it continuously. Use the above just long enough to get severe dry areas under control. After you get the dry area under control you can switch and for everyday continuous use apply milder products that are very effective also and dermatologist recommended. Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion, CeraVe, VaniCream Moisturizing Skin Cream. I can purchase most all of these mentioned for the best price at Wal-Mart. CeraVe you may have to go to CVS or another pharmacy.

what type of cleanser are you using? It may be too drying. Try using something a little less drying, maybe a gently cleanser. Definitely do not use bar soap...it can strip the skin. Also, it may be appearing drier than it really is because of flaking, try using a scrub twice a week to prevent this. Also use a moisturizer...a think creamy one rather then thin more watery one.

What's causing the dry skin? Try applying water to the area, to moisten it, and then applying an ointment like vaseline to trap the moisture in. You can also apply a cream based moisturizer, but ointments tend to last longer and are better at retaining moisture.

For a start dont use tissues to blow nose, use handkerchiefs. You can apply Paw Paw ointment available in chemists & supermarkets in Australia, this is great for a lot of skin conditions.

I use Niva lotion on my face. Also, try using a face wash that is also a scrub. It'll get the dry skin off!

have you ever tried shea butter? you will get it quite low priced at Wal-Mart (enormous field for $3). i exploit it for any epidermis that feels dry. like it! additionally nutrition E cream, or creams containing nutrition E, could help as nicely.

Use a humidifier at night. Put a bit of vaseline on at night (overnite). Do you have allergies?
