A cat can have three litters a year. If she does this, she will not have a long life. She will more than likely be dead by the time she is seven. So:

If she has her first litter at 6 months and lives till she is 7 and a half years ..... that is 24 litters.

Some breeders spread out the litters and the queens may only have one litter ever two years or so.
So those cats may only have three litters.

Others will have one litter a year.
The breeders usually stop breeding their queens at 5 years of age. They are usually spayed then.
So those will have five litters.

ADDITION
The previous answerer quoting the "statistic" of one cat producing 100 kittens in a lifetime - go back to the moggy having 24 litters. To reach the 100 kittens she would only have to have four kittens each time except four times having five (an average of 4.167 kittens per litter) .... very possible. And that lifetime ended at seven and a half!

It would depend on the cat, the owner and the life style. A healthy cat can produce a litter until 12-16 years old. Plus, a cat can begin to have kitten as early as 8-12weeks old. A cat can even get pregnant while nursing a litter. The average litter is four to eight kittens. (That would also depend on the size of the cat.)

There is a static of one cat being able to produce over a hundred kittens in one lifetime. If this cat would have the most ideal conditions. Good nutrition and good health would be the factor of this.

Strays can have much less kittens. This would be mostly because of poor nutrition and living conditions. Many litters from strays produce more still born and kittens with genetic failures. This cat would produce less than the 100 obviously but would still have a good number.

That is why we they would like us to spaid and neuter or animals.

If you want to breed your cat to death, literally, then two or three litters a year for about five to seven years until your cat dies from exhaustion.

If you want a healthy cat that can give the world plenty of unwanted kittens and still live a relatively long happy life, then one litter a year maximum for maybe ten years.

Well, Ideal a cat can have 2 litters a year all you would need to do is get the average life span and suntract 1 for its first year because like us humans they have to have a period first then they can have babies untill they die !
