ghosts sometimes have a smell. actually they smell exactly like a dead rotting turd in the middle of the desert on a hot summer day with your friend jack who told you he smelled something disturbing.

More typically when there is an aroma associated with ghosts it is strongly related to something in the person's life. A person who loved brandy during life might have a ghost that has distinct brandy smell.
Assuming there are such things as ghosts.

Like the one said - aromas can be associated with ghosts - cigars, cigarettes, brandy and other alcohol, perfume...
If you smell something and it makes you sick - that is when you call the priest to bless the house!
