You'll have to dial 011 (the international operator) + the country code (86 for China) + the code of the city you're trying to reach (that you can get online) + the phone number. That should do it.

Do you leave close to China town e.g. LA, Chicago , NY or any big city in US

You can buy a phone card , it cost about $15 - $20 for 800-1000 minutes from US to China.

it cost $20 for 100 minutes from China to US (has to be specificed about this)

but you need to tell the shop what kind you want

calling the cell phone will be a little bit more expensive

from US to China 011-86-city code(make sure you delete the first 0 eg.Beijing 010-will be 10city code) - phone#

but in China you have to call 010. I ran to a big problem before and got all mixed up. it's my experience

from China to US 01-US phone # area code & phone #

It is very expensive to call from China to US
US $12.5 30 minutes

make sure buy the phone card before you go

From the US, dial 011 then 86 (country code for China) then the city code and phone number, but costs will be high. It is best to buy an international phone card from Wal-Mart or wherever. You can also use ATT Direct (look on to call overseas from the US and overseas locations; you can charge it to your Mastercard or Visa, too.

you have to dial +86, the plus sign means it is a long distance call, and 86 is the country code. if you dial the cell phone, you don't need a area code. just dial +86 1xxxxxxxxxxx. you will be alright.

if you use T-mobile, then you can call to customer's service, and ask them if they can rent you the phone to use when you are in China.

if you still can't access to china, you need to call your cell phone company to let u able to dial international call.

have fun in China

everyone has the right answer, 011............if you just pick up your phone and dial at&t charges $9.00 a minute for the call......if you have an international calling plan attached to your phone service the price per minute could be about 21 cents a minute. otherwise international calling cards could bring that price down..........my wife is from china and we use the calling cards........i'll be in guangzhou after 2-14-07........see you there.......
