I dated a guy last year that i totally lost contact with. his cell phone has been disconnected and i am not aware of his email or home phone. last summer he imed me but my computer froze and i was unable to read the im from him. he could possibly be in iraq but i am not sure. i have tried looking him up on whitepages.com but i have been unsuccessful. what should i do?

I know it sounds lame but try websites like myspace and such, they are great for finding long lost people.

Any possible contacts with any of his friends? They'd probably be your best bet. Family perhaps? Other than that, try one of those sites for looking up people for a fee like www.ussearch.com to see if you get a match and get past info for a fee.
Try googling his screenname, or any online alias you're aware of that he used.

Thats sounds like a stressful situation. Lets see... Got any friends that might have his number, know anyone he knows and if all else fails, maybe (if you REALLY want to find him) ask someone in his family for his number and make up some excuse, like you still have some of his stuff or something..

try net detective and myspace thats what i did and i found everyon i lost contact ewith in the last 15 yrs.
