None will perish; Both cater for a specific clientele. MS for the newbie users and those that like useless animations. Linux for more experienced users and Internet servers.

BTW. there are other choices than Linux such as Reactos a free Windows development. It has a more modern kernel concept than Linux. I intend to use that as soon as it becomes good enough to be productive.

thx for reading my post

In course of time the weaker will perish the stronger will become strongest.

Linux going down because there is no standard for it anybody can get the code and modify it and rename it as xxx Linux and that's why business are staying away from that mess.

On the other hand Microsoft continues to dominate the market with brilliance.Mircosoft has entered new markets like
Gaming,Robotics,Hardware,Entertainment and this will keep going on and on..

Both linux n microsoft are gud in there own ways .
As microsoft had done userfrndly manner so this is used by most of the basic users but when v come to security linux is the best even v can c most of the attacks r on the microsoft this is becoz this is not secure as compared to linux .
so most of the networks r based on the linux and even this is freeware so v can modify acoording to the use.

Neither will perish any time soon. Microsoft will give their OS away for a dollar before they go down.

Too many big time systems are programed in both.

People that use Linux or a cousin of Linux.

Google
Sun
Apple
Microsoft
Cnn
Ask Geeves
Yahoo
Bank Of America
Amazon
go.com
nba.com

and dozens more

People that use windows

MySpace
Dell
Ebay
My Mom
And probably you and 90 percent of people that read this.

and many more

I think I have made my point.

Both will be here after we are gone.

Both. Though, Linux is more superior, Microsoft will remain due to aggressive marketing, and comparably much easy to use Interface.
There cannot be a single winner in this huge field.
