I'm 16 and the guy i like is 21. I've known him for almost a year and we get along really good. Our personalities just click and i'm happy whenever im with or talk to him. We hang out, and talk a lot on the phone. He knows that i like him as more than a friend and he told me he likes me a lot and that he cares a lot about me and i know he's not lying cause i dont know, you can just tell. you know? but, despite this we're still not together because as much as he says he likes me he also told me that he was a little uncomfortable with the age difference and that he wouldnt be able to tell his family about me so it bugs him. So i dunno what i should do...i really really like him so should i just wait (till like im 18 or something) and hope he changes his mind? or should i just move on? >__<

If he is uncomfortable with telling people about your relationship, tell him you are equally uncomfortable with keeping it a secret from anyone. No one wants to be kept a secret. I'm sure its not that he is ashamed of you as a person, but its just the age difference. However, its not really that big of an age difference. Hang on for a little longer and if you cant get him to see the light then cut him lose for a while. Absence truly makes the heart grow fonder. He may see that having you in his life is worth it, at any cost, and agree to commit. However, he may also move on, but it is a risk you should consider taking, just to see how he truly feels. I wouldnt sit around and wait for two years, that is no way to spend your youth! Besides, you dont want to miss out on anything in your teen years. If he comes back, maybe it was meant to be. If not, then that is the way it should be.

Hey im 15 goin on 16 in sept & my guy friend is 20 goin on 21 in july... my peoples started 2 trip about the age difference... but we stayed close anyways without them knowin... now goin on 2 years in nov. later we are tight as ever and my mom except us but my family doesnt know about it... he family was trippin 2 so now i guess i have 2 wait until i get 17 or 18 2 meet them... But anyways 2 other people its a problem but 2 us u kno it aint nun but a thing... Anyways back 2 u (lol) dont let him go cause thats someone that may be wit u 4eva... & knowin that he has stuck wit u this long has proven it... look at all the trouble he can get in but hes not thinkin bout that hes thinkin bout u...

The guy can get in serious trouble for dating a 16 year old. If you were 18 then you could see each other. You need to find someone who is closer to your age. If you wait until your 18 then chances are then he'll probably be with someone else. Two years is a long time to wait to be with someone.

honestly u probably hear this all the time but age is just a number. you cant help who you like. yea it may be illegal but if your parents are understanding then you shouldnt have any problems. ask him if he is just embarrased to introduce you to his parents or whats the deal.. i was 15 and my boyfriend was 19 when we meet n we been together ever since its been 5years we been together. if you guys truly like each other dont wait just do what your heart says to do. good luck!!

Move on, but keep talking as friends. Then see whether it works in two years when you're legal and the relationship could be real.

I am really sorry about your situation, just tell him the truth that you want him and you would like to be with him, he wants that , too but he could not say to you that because of your age. invite him one day and talk to him and say everything that you are supposed to say and you will find out exaclty if it is for you. But be sure to be more comfortable when you will talk to him.
