Since we know this one neighbor, it ws liek I remeber her 12/13 yrs ago that she had huge brown spots on her skin, she was a brown mestizo Columbian, but liek is time went the original skin color patches grew smaller that more of her white part of the skin took over .Like 5yrs I have seen her and she is all white, also she talked about that she under went surgery since she had thyriod cancer that she had to under go surgery.She's white as a white/hispanic or white anglo.

A lump or swelling in your neck. This is the most common symptom.

Pain in your neck and sometimes in your ears.

Difficulty swallowing.

Difficulty breathing or constant wheezing.

Hoarseness that is not related to a cold.

A cough that continues and is not related to a cold.

I do not believe the thyroid has anything to do with you neighbors skin pigmentation

It sounds like she has another problem than just thyroid. Possibly vitiligo which causes loss of pigmentation and here are other conditions which cause loss of pigmentation and there may be no connection to her surgery at all.
