My fiance has numerous auto-immune disorders and while undergoing some tests on his intestines, the doctors informed him that he has some cysts on his Spleen and has to have it removed. Is anyone aware if this is a common/ routine surgery or if it is more serious than that.

Hi, back in high school, I got Mono, or the kissing disease, and thought for sure I was a goner. My spleen was the size of nearly a football, and was told it may of had to been removed. fortunately I got better and the spleen went back to normal. I think today with all the technology and stuff, he will be fine. He will most likely need a few weeks off, so be easy on him.
Best of luck

People live fine without spleens. It is a pretty common operation to remove the spleen. I'm sure he'll be just fine with the surgery.
