My husband went into respiratory arrest when he suffered a major asthma attack and for the 20 minutes or so before he arrived in the ER he didn't remember anything that happened. He wasn't clinically dead but his brain wasn't getting enough oxygen(there is a term for it)he said there was nothing. No bright lights, no dead family members telling him to go back or anything. He is also an atheist so that little episode didn't change his mind at all. Just convinced him even more that you are worm food when you die. That's the closest I know about anyone first hand.

this may sound crazy but i have not only died and came back to life, i talked to a dead person. and realy dieing is just dieing. you have no questions or thoughts, no pian or joy, your body just relaxes into a state of eternal nothing-ness. hard to explane, but it is not scarry. and from talking to the dead person i only learned one thing live life the best you can now because , when you are dead life goes on with one major difference. your actions have no efect no mark on the world you left nomatter how hard you try, the girl talked to was not scared or in pain, she even had a friend beside her. and the best advice i have ever heard is "do not fear death, fear the unlived life".

If you die your either going to heaven or hell. I've heard when people go into cardiac arrest that they see bright lights and heavens gate. Who knows. You may have to find that one out for yourself. lol
