I heard some people barely feel bee stings while for some people it hurts really bad and swells a lot (and can even kill them). Is this true? If it is, then why?

For me, it hurts A LOT and swells, but no other side effects.

What I'm asking is if there is a range of effects of bee stings, like some people barely feel it, some it hurts a bit, some it hurts a ton, and some it's fatal.

Yes,

There are very few people that experience less pain from a bee sting, but there are some.

However, a significant portion of the population are allergic to bee stings. They slip into anaphylactic shock and die in only a few minutes, unless treated.

Only people under bee venom threapy feel less pain from a bee sting, because they regularly get stung/injected with the venom.

I too feel the sting but swell only a small amount. I have been stung 4-5 times daily for the last week and appear to have become less allergic to the sting. This year seems to be the worst I have ever seen of wasps and bees. I have mostly been stung by Yellow Jackets but I have found that wasps make me swell more. In 1985 while driving a truck to the airport a wasp flew into the cab of which I swatted fast and aimed for the window however, I missed judged his flight and batted him up my shorts where he stung me on the testicle!! for all those guys out there who are cringing right now I want you to know it was painful and my testicle swelled to the size of a tangerine!! IT was 10 days before I could walk normal again. Amidst all the pain and looking back looking back on the problem it was quite hilarious to watch peoples faces at the hospital when I explained my dilemma :)

Yes, it is true. Some people are more allergic to the bee sting than others and can go into anaphlactic shock when their throat will close up for this allergic reaction.

absolutely, i am allergic to bee stings and when i was younger it was just the pain and a lot of swelling but as i got older it was that and my throat would swell up and i couldn't breathe. now i have to carry a needle with me at all times filled with epinephrine in case i get stung, then i have to shoot myself with it and go immediately to the emergency room otherwise i can die from allergic shock. i have also read that those who are allergic to bee stings give off hormonal 'scents' that actually attract bees. as a side note: ppl who are allergic to bee stings like i am cannot take herbal remedies like bee pollen and cannot eat honey that has not been sterilized/pasteurized

Allergy. If a bee stings me, I'm fine. If a wasp does, I swell up and get fever.

The physical pain depends on where you were stung on the body. More fat...less pain. More muscle..more pain.

I was stung in the bottom of the foot twice...and the butt once.

It also depends on was it a bee, wasp, ect. (Wasp in the foot was the worst).

People who die from the stings are allergic to them. Not everyone is.
