Hi - I am hoping you can offer some ideas on how one should go about "getting a life"? I would like to heed the advice of my colleagues but am unsure how to start. My life pretty much consists of simply going to work for 10 hours a day and coming straight home (I live alone). I get together with my colleagues maybe once a month for dinner, and maybe a couple of times a month I will go catch a movie. . I used to go to church weekly, but not anymore, and I've no group of really good friends to hang out with. I am not into the bar scene or clubbing.

There's gotta be more to life than this - how do I go about getting it? I am 25, if it matters.

Thank you very much in advance for all thought-out, considerate responses.

I used to be in a much similar situation as you. What you do, is figure out what you like to do, and then do it! =D
You like ice skating, go ice skating, you like painting, paint, youy like photography, photograph! Find things that interest you, and then find ways you can participate in the things you like to do, and keep up with it. Don't pay attention to getting a life, and eventually you'll find you had one all along!

Start doing a group activity and make sure to meet new people. For example I have always wanted to learn how to ball room dance, If I were you I would sign up for some classes and meet people. Let's say you always wanted to help children, volenteer at Boy's and Girl's clubs. If you would like to be a role model, become a girl scout troop leader, If you live near a beach take lifeguard classes, go to the book store and randomly start talking to people about what books they are looking at, take a palm reading class, start talking to people you meet in public places, try to say more than just hello, start letting them talk about themselves, and if you naturaly have a hard time talking to people volenteer at a youth group or another childrens organization and you will meet all kinds of kind people, work at the homeless shelter soup kitchen. Just start finding new things to do that you have never done before to help you feel part of the world, be creative and you'll meet lots of people. After you meet those people, be sure to schedule things to do often so that you build a relationship with that person or people.

I found that if you take classes, you will meet a lot of people. For example, take some salsa classes(or any other classes). You don't even need a partner in most places where the class is offered.
Or you can just and have a coffee all by yourself with a good book. Even if you do not meet new people, you will at least be out of the house for a while.

Hey girl. Well I know that you work hard and that is great you have a good work ethic. However, you should make more plans to go out and meet new people.

Do you have one really good best friend?

If not, maybe you should start going to church again, join volunteer activities (with what time you have left) and meet others with similar interests and then branch out from there.

Good luck! : )

Join a club, group or sports league. Take classes (dance, painting etc...) Go back to church or do volunteer work. You have to make the effort, even if you're tired after working. You'll find the more you do that the more energy you'll have.

do u have hobbies?if so u could maybe join some sort of group with people who share the same hobbies/ interests. To make new friends u will have to put urself out there and appear friendly and interested in other people. If people think u are intetrested and interesting they will be attracted to u and want to spend time with u ( as friends or otherwise). Good luck with getting ur life.
