First, there is no scripture that says that God is a Republican. Second, politicians are not our moral/spiritual advisers for a reason! Political life is full of compromises. Most people do not wish to compromise on those beliefs that feel are most important; they tend to see only absolutes (right or wrong). However, politicians have to be capable of seeing many different shades of gray. Third, the line between Democrats and Republicans is not merely blurred but has completely disappeared. Neither side has a single platform anymore. Politicians merely use words that evoke emotion but lack any real meaning. However, it works; they get their constituents to vote for them. Sadly, neither party has any ideals. To answer your question, you can be a Christian and vote for a Democrat. If you believe in God, God is the beginning, and God is the end. God is constant. If you want to vote Christian, pray for guidance. However, I doubt that any choice that you make will leave you feeling great.

The political parties change over time. For instance the Federalists were like.... well both parties right now.... Jefferson's group were like the traditional Republicans (which are kind of straying right now). Lincoln's group was more like the modern Democrats.
I am sort of an Old School Democrat and a Christian. I strongly believe in religious freedom, but in matters of ethics I am more of a Libertarian. But in matters of economics I am more conservative.
But people who group all Christians as part of the religious right pervert Christianity and turn Christianity into a political weapon and use God as a tool to get political support by religious people. It is sacrilegious.

Christians can vote for Democrats, Republicans, any other party, or not vote at all. We answer directly to God for all matters of life and faith. I always do the best I can when I vote but recognize that no candidate is the "perfect" choice, and I can see good reasons why other Christians might choose differently.

You can be Christian, Muslim, Jewish, whatever, to vote democrat. Recently the GOP has become the God party, but there is nothing that says you have to vote a certain way.

I think its basically because of the gay marriage and pro choice stand taken by democrats however, I dont think God favors big business either or lack of gun controll that republicans tend to favor. And anymore, it isnt only the democrats that are pro life anymore, the Republican party will also be pro choice, pro gay marriage in the next election too.

that is completely ridiculous. Vote for who you think will be the best leader for your country. Your country is run by humanity, not God. If the religious right had been smart enough to realize this, we might not be currently losing soldiers lives over an illegal war right now.

Of course!
Some Christians believe that increasing wellfare programs is the best way to take care of the poor, as God wants us to do.
I believe we should take care of the poor ourselves, with charities, instead of passing it off on the government. But that is just MY feelings on the best way to fullfill what God want for me.
And must gay marriage be illegal just because it is immoral? We don't take that approach with premarital sex.
