Is Quinceañera the proper spelling for a girl's 15th Birthday celebration?

Well at least here in Venezuela, "quinceañera" refers exclusively to the girl who's turning 15, not the party. So, the girl would be "la quinceañera" and the party's usually referred to as "los quince años" or "la fiesta de quince años" (which literally translates as "the 15th year old party").
So, if Maria is turning 15 she would be "la quinceañera" and she would send invitations to her party that said "te invito a mis quince años" (I invite you to my 15th birthday).
I can assure you that is how it is in Venezuela, since that's where I live and spanish is my first language.
