Our brains get confused!

Our brains get so accustomed to words that half the time we dont even have to read the entire word to know what it is. We just have to look at the letters at either end and our brain knows what the word is.

So when it sees 4-8 words in one sentance all starting and ending with the same letters and sounding the same, it has to slow down to pick the differences between each word....Yet, our mouths are moving to fast for our brain by this stage - cuz we want to say them as fast as possible... therefore, brain and mouth don't connect properly and results in disaster...

Wow, I just totally looked way to much into the reason behind it eh?

It's because of phonics. Certain letters touch our lips when we pronounce them(recite the alphabet to see) and other don't. Sometimes there is a mix-up and we fumble over our own pronunciation. Then when certain worlds sound the same, as in tongue twisters, our brain becomes somewhat scrambled. That, along with phonics that don't flow well, cause us to botch up a sentence. Hence, the tongue twister.
