I work in a joint command right now. When our general leaves in a few months, a Navy Admiral will take over. We also have a Marine General that runs the Ops section of the command.

The Marines are an arm of the U.S. Navy and are reserved for fast response and special forces ("first in, last out"). The infantry grunts the nice lobotomized news morons call ground troops are under the supervision of the Army.
