Hello all, Just doing an informal survey here, I'm having a tattoo covered in March. It's was my first tattoo. I made a poor stupid decision and picked a piece of flash off of the wall and let an idiot (TRAVIS) at a local shop tattoo me. Now its four years later and I now have some GOOD ink on me and this hideous purple piece of crap has to go. There's going to be a tattoo convention near me in March. I went to the website, looked at the lists of featured artists, checked out their websites and contacted the one I liked best. I sent him a pic of the tatt to cover....we worked everything out this weekend. Then he tells me that I'm going to be his only appointment on Saturday. I have 8 to 9 hours booked to do this coverup. As a featured artist he will have a camera watching over his shoulder and projecting the whole process on to the big screen in the arena. So am all excited and nervous. The longest I've ever sat before is 2 hours.....can anybody out there tell me how 8 hours will be?

I'm pretty sure we're going to be taking short breaks. I usually read to distract myself

I've sat for 4 hours straight, my longest time yet.... The last hour and a half for me were hell. I started to feel nauseous and light headed. It also felt more painfulthe last hour than the previous hours, afterwards I just felt drained and very sore. If it were me I would get half of it done and maybe go a week later and get the rest of it done, that way it's not such a toll on your body. But since it's the whole tattoo convention thing that may not be an option. Good Luck!

8 hours will be hell. I can usually sit 6 to 8 but that 6th hour it usually becomes unruley. There is a product that you can get with a prescrip or over the internet called EMLA cream. It is a topical ointment that you apply 1 hour before wrap with plastic wrap and wipe off any residue before you sit. It will take the edge off for a couple of hours. I am having a sleeve done right now and I discovered it and it is a miracle. My tatt artist has now started using it for himself and so has most of his staff. Eventhough this is a way out some of the pain can be a theraputic relief . Good Luck. If you are anywhere near the NC area. I highly recommend No Regret Studio in Sylva. Ask for Dave. Tell him Brandon sent you.

There are probably two sides to this store. The nurse may have honestly felt that she was not "digging", and I can imagine it would be difficult to work with a squirmy baby. She was most likely trying her best to get it done with, but that just wasn't happening. Nobody likes to be told how to do their job, so this nurse was most likely offended and blew up on you, which was not right. Also, ranting in front of other patients about people is not very professional. As a mother, it's your duty to speak up when you think something wrong is going on, which is exactly what you did. Nobody likes to see their child suffer, but let's face it; it's going to happen. Our children will be in pain and sometimes we can't do much about it. I would try to find out the nurse's name and file a complaint and leave it at that.

I can only go for 5 maybe 6 at a time, depending on what part of the body it is. After that my skin gets so raw and just starts to hurt to bad. I have friends though that have sat up to 10 hours, talk about raw skin.

So far I've only made it 3 hours...if you are planning on sitting for up to 8 hours I would ask a doctor to numb you up with Novocaine first.
