It's like if you don't agree with the Quaran or the Bible, or if you are not a Muslim or a Christian then you are an Atheist or whatever. Well, you don't have to be an Athetist to not believe in religion if you believe in God.

People, believe it or not, people can and DO believe in God without a religion!

AND

If someone doesn't believe in religion than they obviously they do not have faith in the accuracy of the books of that particular religion either.

Just because I don't agree with the accuracy of the bible and such doesn't make contradict myself. It means I don't believe in the "truth" and the "word" of the bible not God.

God, I believe in. I think God exists.. Religions are manmade.

For some people they take everything in the Quaran or Bible as 100% accurate (even when it's translated, can be interpreted multiple ways, or contradicts physical laws!). You can't change their view on that, so no use trying. All we can do is let them be. Yes, I know you said it's them that go off on you. Oh well, just be secure in your OWN beliefs....and be willing to CHANGE them when you encounter new evidence. Good advice I would think for Christians, Atheists, Muslims, and people like you and me who are spiritual but not Religious.

By the way you might find the "Conversations With God" books by Neale Donald Walche interesting.

For me, I bieve the answer to be that that when a child learns about something with religion from their parents, they are brouht up like that.
Religion will always be fighout over, with never being won by either side, and that if you are happy and content with which religion you choose, that you feel it guides your life and helps you when you need it most, then you shouldn't worry about the religious views of other people, because they are really basically the same with a 'God', but with only facts changed .
It isn't God who tells us what is right or wrong, tell us in any way why things occur for a reason, not interfering in our business, we just choose to fight over religion because it is a strng subject that will never be revealed.
No matter how hard you think and pray, God will never show Her/Himself to us in any way (even the brink of an apocalypse) because it is believed that we are here to learn from our mistakes and if something goes wrong, we always blame God for the way things are going.

God, I believe in. I think God exists.. Religions are man-made

your very right, religion is man made.

so you believe God exist, who is God , where is your God, I mean do you have anything other than I feeling that He exist.

the Bible is about relationship with God knowing God, living every day in the presence of God. see Christians, Bible believing Christians have Eternal Life now & intimacy with Jesus.

this is why when the world crumbles around Christians have a peace whch confounds and annoys those who don't have Jesus.

sometime people may come on abit strong but thats because (hopefully) their zealous and want you to have the blessing they have.

think of it this way, if you knew the answer to life's biggest problems would't desire toshare it with those you love?

Regarding "attackers," I'd guess there are two types:

Prideful
Some cads just like to spout off because they think they are right. What they really do is tell the world they have a pride issue.

Calvinists
Then there are the well intentioned folks who have unbalanced influence from John Calvin, All they can think is "Turn or Burn!"
They really have good intentions, but lack compassion. They think that by blasting someone, they are doing them a favor.

Suggestion
It's tough to find decent Christians nowadays. But, at least you can read about a good Christian. If you ever read about Jesus, I think you'd say, "Now this guy is alright! I can deal with a guy like this."

Hey Congrats, your as I understand it 100% on the mark. There's a difference between spirituality or Christianity and religion. Religions about rules. Christianity is about freedom. Great book you might like "Blue Like Jazz" from a guy named Donald Miller. It's about seeing God and believing in Him without the religious lenses most look through.

What do you base your truth on? Is it just a feeling or a kind of inner knowledge? If we all thought that way, my God would be different than your God. In the Holy Scriptures God is the same for all to see and know. Actually, it is good to hear that you believe in God and believe that He exists. This proves something, that God is drawing you to Himself. It is how God calls His children. If the day ever comes where you want to really know this God, pray and ask Him to help you. He will. I am certain that you will find the Bible full of wonderful truths about God. You are on a journey, if you draw near to God, He will draw near to you. God Bless,

Each religion lays claims to the whole truth. By definition whatever falls outside of the boundaries of religion is either untrue, or untruth or plain irrelevant or transient. Accordingly, whoever decides to spend his or her live in such a limbo is doomed. This leads believers to cultivate a crusader mindset according to which he or she is out on a mission to defend the truth that is exposed in his o her particular religion. Sadly, this attitude is commonly found here even in Yahoo Answers.

as an impartial observer of all these debates, I see a lot more atheists attacking christianity than the reverse. What's worse are the ones that THINK they're being funny and clever while they're at it, when nothing could be farther from the truth.

When the Christians attack, it's always to threaten us with going to hell or quoting some verse in the Bible, as if that's going to change anyone's mind.

It's all quite pathetic, to tell you truth. If BOTH sides would shut the hell up, this place would be a lot more interesting and enjoyable.

I am a Christian and I hate religion. Real Christianity is about a relationship with God, and is not, in the technical sense, a religion. Of course, the only way to have a relationship with God is through His Son, Jesus Christ. Don't confuse that with religion.

Also, don't assume the Bible is inaccurate because you don't agree with it. The Bible IS accurate and that's pretty easy to prove. Of course, if you have already decided then you will never accept the proof.

You are absolutely right. God is one thing, religion is quite another and the two simply do not mesh.

That's where people get very confused and don't know heads from tails when they talk about God in conjunction with religion. The two don't go together at all.

God doesn't care for "religion" and it apparently doesn't care very much for Him.
