Dear drey,
please excuse the slight drifting away of the topic in the following answer. At this moment I have very little time on my hands, but after reading some of the disrespectful, arrogant trash that few people have written here, I can not help but respond to this.

If you don't mind, I'd like to take a moment and clear some technical details and facts first.
First off some of us would: "...give the edge to Kiltschko for the simple fact that he has has Manny Steward in his corner..." Completely disregarding ability of two fighters and giving one of them the edge only because he has certain person as his trainer is by it self an idiocy that goes beyond a normal persons comprehension. Trainer, regardless of how good he is, will surely not step into the ring and do the fight for his boxer. He can give him all the advice in the world but what it all comes down to is the fighter in the match and his ability to employ them. But all this aside, the simple fact is that Vitali Klitschko DOESN'T HAVE Manny Steward in his corner nor did he ever. Throughout his professional career he was trained by great European coach Fritz Sdunek and same will be for this fight. So this argument is a pure bias and envy speaking from people who can't stand to see a non American as the world champion, as is the following that - Vitali Klitschko is a man with a "glass chin". This just goes to show how ignorant, primitive and hateful people here are. It could definitely be argued that Vitali's brother Wladimir, current world champion, is a man with a glass chin. That's a fact that his career has shown us and I'm not opposing that. But, like I said, the hate and bias of people here clearly makes it impossible for them to see this even remotely objective either. Because, apart from the fact that they're brothers and about the same size, Vitali and Wladimir are two completely different fighters, their style is different, their tactical approach is different and most importantly their resiliency is beyond any comparison. While Wladimir does have a weak chin and can not take too much punishment, Vitali is a man with a chin made of granite. He has never been knocked out, or even knocked down in his career, his resiliency is incredible and punishment that he is able to take is absolutely beyond belief. If you don't trust me on this, just watch his fight with Lennox Lewis and what he went through there and let me know what you think.
And for these moronic remarks of how he is a man without skills and how his fight with Maskaev would be boring and end in a draw no comment is really necessary and it's not worth any ones time to even give this a serious thought.

And now few words about the fight it self. In my opinion Vitali would easily beat Maskaev and finish him off in no more then six or seven rounds. He is bigger, stronger, faster of the two, more powerful, more explosive, a lot better attacker and height and reach advantage that he'd have here would be very significant. And Maskaev, it has got to be said, is not very good fighter. He's slow, his ring movement could be a lot better, and his tactical approach wasn't that great in several fights so far. Up to this moment he has been knocked out by every serious opponent he ever had in his life and the only reason he even became the champion is because he was fighting Rahman for the title. But I honestly can not see him holding on to it for too long because his next match is either against Vitali or Peter and there's really no way that he'll win or even go the distance against any one of these men.

Klitschko. Period. Maskaev is like Corey Sanders, even HE is surprised at where he's at. Klitschko is a talented, intelligent athelete who has been trained by the top trainers all over the world....he was "groomed" to be the champion. Maskaev fell into it because of weak competition and random, heavyweight "luck."

And yes, people, I konw Sanders beat a Klitschko.

Klitschko with a 2nd round KO. I think Maskaev is a little overrated.

Hard to say. Klitschko has the talent and should be favored. But there's no way to know how the time off has effected him. He's injury-prone. Maskaev is not as talented, but is very tough and a hard pucnher. He certainly has a chance.

Well I must admit the heavyweights may be taking a step in the right direction since this will be unifying two of the four alphabet soup titles. Does this fight engender in me the excitement of say a Holyfield/Tyson I or and Ali/Frazier match up? No. Do I really care who wins? Not really. Two heavyweights who lack skill. I would give the edge to Klitschko for the simple fact that he has has Manny Steward in his corner. Although Maskaev has a puncher's chance as Klitschko's chin is VERY questionable.

Vitali is the best heavyweight out there right now and will utterly annihilate Maskaev.
