Personally, I hate valentines day. its a day started by card companies and candy companies and the Floral mob to make extra money, because birthdays and illnesses weren't cutting it any more. Flowers and Candy and cards are all so cliche. The idea of one day out of the year to tell someone that they are special (and it is expected) is just silly to me. You should be doing this all the time. And when its an actual reason to do something EXTRA SPECIAL like and anniversary or birthday..then do so. But don't think of Valentines day as a reason to say "I love you" or to pop the question...its just a commercial holiday.....

As for what I expect from my sweetie. Prolly the same thing we do every night...Giggle, play video games, and snuggle. Its a perfect night for me. No bells and whistles...

What I would love on valentines day:

1. Flowers. Doesn't have to be anything fancy, doesn't have to be a huge bunch. Just a few flowers - either my favourite flower, or flowers in my favourite colour.
2. Chocolates. Now, unless a girl is on some crazy diet, there is no girl out there that will say no to chocolate. Much better if its something I really like or is my favourite.
3. A nice fancy dinner somewhere with a great view would be spectacular. I know guys don't always have money, but if you are too poor to take her out to somewhere DECENT (and I mean proper restaurant), then cook dinner at home, and make sure you have dessert that contains strawberries and chocolate of some description. Put a red coloured/patterned table cloth on the table and have a few candles. Get some wine (or if you are under drinking age, there are plenty of zero % alcohol drinks out there - sparkling grape juice, etc).

Another option if you are limited in cash. After dinner, either walk or drive to a nice lookout point, or somewhere really nice - hilltop, mountain top, ocean wharf, whatever is nearby and just sit and chat. Girls love that.

And if you feel inclined to buy her a gift, get her something thoughtful. If its jewellery, it doesn't have to be expensive, but I'd go for at least stirling silver rather than el-cheapo-shop nickle plated stuff.
