I read this in the Home Remedies book and it WORKS!! I get canker sores frequently and this is the only thing I have found that works. All you do is get some vitamin e, either caplets or straight up vitamin e. Dry out the canker sore and put the vitamin e on it. I promise you that it will be healed within 24 hours. Mine always are. Just keep vitamin e on it, babe, and you won't be sorry!!
The vitamin e doesn't taste at all, so you don't have any bitter tastes in your mouth.

There is a product called " Cure- A -Sore " that works very well.(it's a liquid that comes in a small glass brown bottle) Not only to speed healing but to ease pain. I'ts no easy to nfind so you may want to call around or have a pharmacy order it. You can also use Ambisole or some other numbing medication used for tooth ache, these are sold over the counter, it only lasts a few min. at a time. Also if It doesn't improve in 5 days or so it may be worth a doctor trip to be sure that it's not infected.Generally canker sores are caused by a virus which antibiotics won't help, but if you gert a secondary infection it could require antibiotics. Good luck, they do hurt

Canker sores usually go away without any treatment. For pain relief, you can try taking ibuprofen (brand name: Advil) or acetaminophen (brand name: Tylenol). Other medicines, such as Anbesol, Oragel, Orabase and Zilactin-B, might keep your canker sores from becoming irritated by eating, drinking or brushing your teeth. You put these medicines right on the sore.

You can also mix equal amounts of Milk of Magnesia and Benadryl Allergy liquid. After it's mixed, you can swish a teaspoonful in your mouth for about 1 minute and then spit it out. If you do this every 4 to 6 hours, your canker sores may hurt less.

Some people think that sucking on zinc lozenges, taking vitamin C or vitamin B complex, using a sage-and-chamomile mouthwash or taking a lysine supplement helps their canker sores heal faster

If you get frequently L-Lysine (amino acid) can be taken to help get rid of canker and cold sores (see website below). Also an old home remedy is putting alum powder (found in spice or pickling section of grocer's and some stiptic sticks if they don't have other additives) directly on the sore. This numbs it and helps it dry up faster. Alum is VERY bitter though and can cause your mouth to produce excess saliva, but you only need to leave it on there about a minute each treatment. My grandma told me to do this when I was very small and it works really well even if it is nasty!!

Use salt water. Keep putting stuff like ambesol in there so you will leave it alone and let it heal. Or if its real bad you can do this. I have and it hurts but it makes it go away. My doctor would take this little stick that had acid or something on the end of it and burn it out. It would only take it aout a day or two to heal.

Chlorasceptic (a throat spray you can find at drug stores) will also help--just spray it on.
