My husband is in the military and he received orders stating that he has to report to another post in 3 months. We recently purchased a house and were wondering what happens if we cannot sell our house that quickly. Also, does the Army help with providing him a place to stay (he's an E5) until we can sell our house and move up there (no two housing payments, in other words)? Thanks!

nope. no longer are geo bachelors allowed to stay in the BEQ in most cases. BAH will change to the new duty location as soon as he reports there, regardless of whether or not you join him right away or if you have sold the house.

you will have to maintain 2 households until you sell or rent your home.

Sorry, that's the risk you take when buying a house at an assignment. If it's not sold by the time you move, you will have to cover the cost of 2 households. Hopefully you can find a cheap place for him to stay if the house hasn't sold, or have a friend in the area he can stay with for awhile.

However, 3 months is plenty of time to sell a house in most markets, clean is **** and span, pack up as much as you possibly can, get a good realtor and price it to sell.

He will only get 1 BAH...but...he can live in the BEQ (barracks) while you stay behind and sell the house if need be.
