Veal is the meat from a baby cow, usually milk-fed and confined. It is controversial to some. The calves are usually the unwanted male young of Holstein dairy cows- as part of the freshening process ( make milk as a result of giving birth)the female calves are raised to replace older dairy cows.

Veal is from a calf. (Aka baby cow). Veal farmers keep the baby cows in a small enclosure so that their muscles do not get too firm. This makes the meat more tender.

Veal is baby cow. There are a few different types. There is veal that is killed when the calf is only a few days old. There is veal that is "milk-fed" when the calf is fed only liquids and then there is "red" veal where they are fed solids as well.
The calves are born, then kept in a pen that does not allow them to move. Allowing movement would work muscle and the meat would then be less tender.
(I know about it, but i refuse to eat it!)
