Grab her hand and say NO really sternly when she slaps, loud enough to startle her.
You can't reason with her or talk her out of it at that age.
(Slapping her back will only reinforce her behavior. It won't teach her anything about slapping being inappropriate.)

Hi! It's Saket from India. It can be better if I will call you aunt, because I am only at the age of 16. But I can tell you that your baby is only of 10 months and she is in the natural growth which doesn't affect child's social life. You don't worry about the slapping, it's a common thing' and no any specialist can do anything with it. Only worrying about it will hurt your daughter
if any unfortunate thing you have done. I am sure that you will not worry about the daughter after reading this..........
ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT EVERY SLAP AT THIS AGE IS A GIFT FROM YOUR DAUGHTER TO YOUR MARRIED LIFE.

If that doesnt work you can slap her hand and say again NO then she may stop. It worked with my son and he is now a Terrific 2 :-)

Eeek, nothing you have tried works? Have you tried spanking her hand and a firm "NO" immediately after she does it? If it stings her hand a little, there's no harm, but it will make the feeling unpleasant enough that she won't want to experience the consequences of slapping. Be consistent though, no matter what you try.

She's not doing it to be mean, she doesn't have the vocabulary to tell you that she's mad so she cries or hits. Just make sure to tell it hurts and that we aren't allowed to hit people every time she does it. Most kids grow out of this hitting stage when they have the proper vocabulary to express their feelings (unless of course their parents slapped them back like a lot of these idiots suggested).

As soon as she does it, Take her to a boring place and ignore her for a minute or so. Ignore her totally. When you go back to her explain simply (hard at 10 months!). NO. She will soon associate slapping with being totally ignored and no baby likes that! Make sure no-one ever laughs or encourages her and stick with it....

My son did this for awhile too. And, I felt that smacking her had (old wisdom from my mom) was just reinforcing bad behavior. So, I just took his hand and changed my happy expression to very stern. I deepened my voice and held his hand and said no. He was hurt by that enough that he stopped. But, like all kids he tried it again to see what would happen...it just took reinforcing and now he doesn't even bother with it.
Also, bonding is reinforced with the child putting their hands to their parents faces. So, we showed him if he put his hand to our mouth we'd kiss his open palm. This seemed to satisfy both of us. :)))

As cruel as it may sound, show her how it feels. Nothing too drastic, but do it too her and tell how that hurts mommy too when she does it. If she continues, remind her when she hits that it hurts!
