She loves you!
(You are supposed to look real excited, pet her, praise her and give her a treat. At least that's what my kitties tell me.)
Cats that like to hunt will bring their prey as gifts to the ppl they love. It's the highest cat compliment.
I have a steady supply of field mice in season from my admirers. Right now they really want to bring me the canary I am minding for my son. This is going to be a challenge!:)

My cat does that too, the behaviour is identical. He only brings big pink flowers, and only from mid winter to spring for a few weeks. He makes it through the cat door and drops them around the house. Sometimes he doesn't quite make it through the cat door and the flowers are dropped just outside. This is his third winter, he's done this at 9 months since his first winter each year. And he's getting better at it. He usually gets one a night. Tonight we already have 3, so we're setting our sights for 9...wow! He now loudly announces his find with pride when he comes through. Only once have we caught him "pink handed" ! Imagine the sight of a ginger cat with a great big pink flower in his mouth. Unbelievably cute! You know, he's not that smart, always been a slow developer as a kitten, but makes up for it with cuteness, and responds well to encouragement, discipline and affection. He's not very good at catching critters and only brings in grasshoppers, beetles and the occasional gecko (most of which we rescue and liberate) during summer. I think it's a bit special, don't you?

I AGREE WITH EVERYONE! CATS SOME MOSTLY BOYS LIKE TO HUNT AND THEY GIVE IT TO YOU TO SHOW OFF, TO MAKE YOU PROUD, not that it always works on your part, my family freaks out when my cat brang home a dead bird or a limping one one time, we had such a sad reaction each time that he stopped bringing them in the house. but he still hunts they all do. Sometimes they'll even go after a bug if you show it to them on the floor and then you'll be happy .. right?! They just love the hunt.... even if the bird is ready to come down and plunge at them, It's funny really!

I know that it sounds funny, but it is your cat's way of honoring you! he/she wants to show off their ability as a hunter and hope to impress you. I had a kitty that was an awesome huntress. When she brought her prizes home, I would always praise her warmly. If it bothers you that your cat is killing other animals, then keep it inside, or get it a collar with a bell. That will at least give the critters it stalks some warning. But don't get angry--the cat is the closest domesticated animal to being wild.

I have 7 cats and almost everyday there are at least 2 or 3 mice on my porch. All they want is a reward! Of course, I make sure they get their reward because in the back of my head, all I think, is....What if that thing got into my house! Yes, I would freak out! So give them their reward, they do deserve it!

my cat brings in LIVE birds and mice. we have a kitty door and when we're at work, we sometimes come home to a half-dead bird trying to fly away, or she has killed it throughout the day. We even have a birdie hospital in our shed!! I feel bad though cuz I haven't particularily praised her for it. I will next time!!

Bringing you his "kill" is the highest compliment a cat can give you. Those dead mice, lizards and birds are the cat's offering to his "god." He expects you to PRAISE him. If you don't it hurts his feelings. He might go for bigger kills in orfer to impress you. So before he drags your neighbor's kid to your doorstep, best praise him already, K?

This is a very good cat. I think she respect you and since you feed her daily she wants to show gratitude and share whatever she hunts with you. Or she thinks you might keep her hunt safe and and return her when she wants to eat it. I've seen a cat in my neighbourhood who showed her new born kittens to he owner when he returned from a long holiday. But it did not let any other member of the family to touch or come near her kittens.

Your cat wants praise for killing these animals for you. Cats hunt as part of their instinct so they want praise when they do good. Give your cat a pat on the head or a treat for a job well done.

It is a gift and they want you to see how good they can take care of rodents and other animals they consider a problem in or near your home. My 2 cats do it all the time.
