Well, it depends on what's broken.
If you mean brakes, not breaks, it depends on the make, year and model. Basically parts, plus labor rate per hour multiplied by the number of hours the job takes.

You can usually find discount shops (Midas etc.,) that will do them on specials for $59-$79 per axle. (Your car has two axles).
That's just brake pads and resurfacing the rotors or drums. If you've let the brakes go too long and have to replace the rotors and/or drums, you might be looking at $250-300 and up, depending on the make and model of vehicle you have. (One of my cars has $40 rotors, and the other has $120 rotors, and that's per wheel.)

I tell you what if you spend more than a hundred bucks an axle you're moving into ripoff range. Unless you need new drums, rotors, or calipers. They can cost more. But if you're just getting pads and/or shoes and getting the drums and/or rotors resurfaced, it's like I said. A c-note per axle. Or roughly thereabouts.

breaks are free, they come from flying objects, hitting other cars, etc.
Brake pads are anywhere from 15-70 dollars. Rotors and/or drums 20-175 each, depending on vehicle.

The average is about $140. If that's all it needs. If the brakes are grinding you may have to replace rotors, calipers, and hardware.
