On your federal return, it's taxable income. But in most if not all states, unemployment comp is not taxable at the state level. Read the instructions for VA taxes, it should say something about it.

Claim the income, it's taxable.

I don't understand your question though. Get "Turbo Tax," enter the unemployment income, enter any W-2 income, etc... There is a place for the unemployment income on your Form 1040, which will carry over to your VA state return.

Don't listen to "Kafskorne." Unless there is withholding on the 1099G, it DOES NOT get attached like a W-2. You keep it for your records.

It is taxable income. You don't have to send a copy in w/ your taxes because the IRS has received a copy from the payee but you must include it as income in the space(s) for 1099s. Based on your soc number the IRS will make sure you added this income to your taxes.

If you don't see a space for the 1099 maybe you are using an EZ form. I don't know if the EZ has a section for it but the regular 1040 does.

The IRS isn't accepting e-document till the seventeenth, so log lower back into your tax utility and notice if there is any way you may cancel the submission or edit your return. The utility might have regular your return yet because of the fact the IRS isn't taking them yet it only saved it someplace and it won't genuinely upload it till the seventeenth. in case you do no longer adjust it and it is going via to the IRS on Jan seventeenth, then you quite have no decision yet to do an amended 1040-X return. determine you are trying this till now April seventeenth to circumvent outcomes and interest.

Just call your state tax office and ask them if your state taxes unemployment . . . some do, some don't.
