I'm the youngest son in my family. And I have been to war - twice.

No. If your brothers have died in a war and you are the last surviving son then you will not go in to combat but you can still be drafted to work out side of the combat theater.

No absolutely not.
If you have brothers already
in the war and you are the
only one home, you can not
be drafted. Or if you are an
only son. But with today's
kind of government, don't
count on anything.

no. there is no draft, and there won't be one.

there is no program in place that permits only children, only sons or youngest child to avoid deployment and combat duty. the only exception is if a parent or sibling is killed IN COMBAT. then you can request transfer out of a combat theater. It is not automatic.

Since there is no draft, it does not matter, because there are no rules. IF and I say IF a draft were to be enacted it would have it' own rules.

I think that only works if your the ONLY son in the family. That way, someone is left to carry on the family name.

No. If you are the SOLE SURVIVING SON (meaning that if you die, the family name dies with you - no cousins or anything left), you can turn down a deployment to a war zone, but you'd have to leave the service to do it.

No this is not true. But we don't currently have a draft.

I believe that is, if it is an only son. In that case they can with the parents permission, but what parent in their right mind would do so.
